The jaw-dropping news broke a few months back that overnight musical sensation Lana del Rey would be the new face of Jaguar’s F-Type marketing campaign.
The preliminary teaser images released attached to the big story had many reporters scratching their heads. In one image, LDR is shown lounging poolside in a sweet sunhat; in another shot, she’s making eyes at the camera in a white cropped top and skirt ensemble.
The pics look like they’ve been taken straight out of one of Lana’s dreamy, sixties inspired music videos, so what do they have to do with the world’s sexiest car? Only a true Mawi London fan would have picked up on the image’s muted implications. As seen above, LDR sports Mawi’s much-loved Panther cuff, one on each wrist.
Now, the official advertisement has been released in the midst of Paris Fashion Week. The Jaguar F-Type was unveiled earlier this week to a VIP audience at Musée Rodin, Paris. See Lana above, with the new F-Type.
The two minute video accompaniment was inspired by a new song penned by Del Rey which will eventually be featured in her own short film entitled “Burning Desire.” Hear the instrumental version of the song in Jaguar’s F-Type pulse-quickening commercial below.
This isn’t the first commercial debut for the famous crooner. Earlier this year, Lana starred in a provocative ad campaign for H&M which featured her take on the classic Bobby Vinton song Blue Velvet. The full-length commercial is rife with homage to American film and TV master David Lynch, most popular for directing cult favorite Twin Peaks.
