We know it must be pretty tough out there in the crazy world that is celebrity; what with competing for column inches, chart positions, and critical acclaim. There are so many different titles to be had, from ‘best dressed’, ‘number one’, or ’sexiest’; you name it, there’s a crown waiting to be placed on the head of the most competitive celebrity once they reach the upper echelons of their chosen ’sport’. And, as if all of that pressure wasn’t enough to send even the most hardened celeb into rehab, there’s a new title in town and with it, a new crown (or piece of jewellery) to be had. So, the title in question – it’s only ’she who wears Mawi the most’. In the blue corner we’ve got seasoned Mawi veteran Alexa Chung, and in the red, electro-pop newcomer and someone who is quickly becoming Miss Chung’s stiffest competition – Little Boots.

We’ve been charting Little Boots’ rise to fame long before her single had even gone into production, and now, in the wake of her debut single ‘New in Town’s’ increasing air time, everyone seems to want a piece of the pint-sized singer. So, with this surge in popularity, more pictorals are surfacing, and you’ve guessed it, more Mawi. Saturday’s Times Magazine saw yet another in print appearance from Little Boots – who is fast becoming one of the hottest acts for the summer- with an editorial shoot showcasing the stars comfort in front of the camera, and of course, her style. In an X-ray print McQueen dress, Little Boots looks like she has left her Pop Idol days far behind her, and starting as she means to go on, being seen in quite the list of designer names along the way.

So, we think you’d agree that Little Boots is worthy of the title of ’she who wears Mawi the most’, but there won’t be any crowning ceremony just yet, as if there are any other celebs reading, there’s still plenty of time (and Mawi jewellery) on offer to get yourself in the running. Of course, Little Boots’ Mawi loyalty hasn’t gone unnoticed, and if you follow the singer’s Twitter account, you will see that a Mawi gift did wing its way to her not too long ago…lucky Little Boots.

Oh, and by the way, we had a very excited phone call from the owner of Chica Boutique in Ireland following a high-profile visit from none other than Beyonce and her rather hefty entourage. In what can only be likened to a high fashion hurricane, the mega, mega star literally swept through the store, clearing the place of Mawi stock whilst on some down time during her tour. We believe that she has headed back to the States now, but we will be looking out for her wearing her Mawi purchases on style sites and in magazines from now on. Who knows, Mrs Jay-Z could be storming into the lead for the Mawi title before we know it. After all, there is nothing wrong with a little healthy competition.
