From Hogwarts to high fashion, Emma Watson wears Autumn/Winter 2009 – Heirloom Collection – for Teen Vogue cover shoot

It’s rather hard to believe that it was now nine years ago that a very, very young Emma Watson first graced the silver screen as Harry Potter’s pretty sidekick Hermione Granger. At a wee ten years old, Emma was yet to even contemplate her chosen GCSE subjects, let alone think about her career, but by the looks of things, the now accomplished actress didn’t hang about, and has it pretty well figured out, all at the tender age of 19 we might add.

Whilst most child actors star’s fade following their first taste of fame, with more often than not a stint in rehab, a quicky wedding, or sex tape somewhere along the way, Emma Watson, and the rest of the Harry Potter lead cast come to think of it, have made a successful transition into young adult stars relatively unscathed. And Emma, in particular, is shaping up to be a face of the future not only in films, but most recently more so, in fashion. With six separate Harry Potter films now under her belt, and apparently two more to follow, Emma has managed to appeal to the droves of child, teen (and let’s face it, adult) audience members who await the next instalment with anticipation as soon as they’ve seen the last, but at the same time, cash in on her classic, ethereal beauty as a face to watch in fashion. Chanel’s Karl Lagerfeld pretty much gives her the run of the latest collection for all those important events in her diary (jealous, us?), whilst Burberry’s Creative Director Christopher Bailey has gone one step further, choosing Watson as the new face of Burberry’s Autumn/Winter 2009-10 campaign. Certainly not doing things by halves, but miraculously taking it all in her stride, Emma Watson is going for the big guns in fashion (or they for her, more like), and it is fair to say that if these first few names that are falling at Emma’s feet are anything to go by, there will be a lot more exciting collaborations to come.

Acknowledging her growing fashion appeal, and of course, the fact that she is still in her teens, Teen Vogue have chosen Emma as their August 2009 cover star, and have created an eccentric English inspired editorial shoot in her honour. Now, as the issue is yet to hit the shelves, we’re unsure as to which look made the cut for the cover, but in the mean time, Teen Vogue Onlinehave published some stunning pictures from behind the scenes to give us an idea. Shot in rolling countryside and overgrown meadows, the styling for the shoot was all rich velvets, fur stoles (faux we hope), ribbons and bows, and vintage looking jewellery. Of course, we noticed some pieces from Mawi’s Autumn/Winter 2009 Heirloom Collection working perfectly with the quintessentially English feel of the shoot, so we took a closer look, and look forward to when the issue goes on sale to see if we made the cover.

The pieces that Teen Vogue have chosen are from Mawi’s much missed and somewhat resurrected Heirloom collection that is back in it’s entirity for Autumn/Winter 2009. With ample helpings of pearls, recycled trinkets, Mawi’s signature skulls, velvet ribbon, and rich crystal accents, this collection will not disappoint Heirloom fans of yesteryear, and for those of you who are familiar more so with the futuristic and industrial inspired statement Mawi pieces of late, prepare to take a look at Mawi’s heritage.
