Tim and Mawi were recently VIP guests of their great friend Marawa at Soho’s newest Mexican grill La Bodega Negra.
The underground catacombs of La Bodega Negra brag a food-for-sharing menu and a location that one could only stumble upon if looking for a neon-gilded sex shop.
On the surface, La Bodega Negra appears to be one of dozens of street food grills that litter every nook and cranny of Central London. Around the corner, through a seedy-looking strip club entrance and down a flight of stairs, however, is where the real experience begins.
The offbeat Mexican cantina gathers a mix of savvy Londoners and in-the-know foodies from around the city. Besides being nearly impossible to snag a reservation at this hidden gem without some sort of connection, Tim and Mawi both agreed that the mystique of the concealed entrance gave the restaurant an even more private feel. Tim raved about his experience and has dubbed it his new favorite dinner joint.
Tim isn’t the only one who’s fallen head-over-heels for the hideaway eatery. La Bodega Negra is frequented by some of London’s most fashionable guests including Kate Moss, Keira Knightley, Lily Allen, and our favorite trendsetter Alexa Chung.
My personal favorite aspect of La Bodega Negra? It shelves one of the city’s most extensive tequila menus, with over 100 sip-able varieties.
