Do you remember Lesly who I met in Nagaland and featured a couple of days ago in ‘She Wears It Well’? Lesly is author of the kookily entitled Lazymanxcat blog and a girl after my own heart- she loves trawling second-hand stores and stalls for vintage clothes and accessories. In the West ‘vintage’ is a staple of most girls’ wardrobes, but in India it’s still practically unheard of and there is still a certain stigma attached to wearing clothes that aren’t brand new.

Lesly was inspired to start vintage shopping after seeing repeated references to ‘thrift’ and ‘Salvation Army stores’ in her favourite American blogs. We went thrifting together in her hometown of Dimapur and she showed me some of her favourite finds in her wardrobe. Her style philosophy is simple- if you love it, wear it!

Lesly’s love for vintage extends beyond her wardrobe too- her room is a tribute to ‘lo-fi’, retro, shabby chic taste. Complete with an old type-writer salvaged from her father’s study…

Lesly’s mother, who comes from a remote tribal community in Nagaland, collects the original tribal jewellery, which is great fun to study and get inspired by!

Fashion is an international language, don’t you think?
