‘Jingle Jangle’

One of my favourite songs in the world is Bob Dylan’s ‘Tambourine Man’ and my favourite line in that song is ‘In the jingle jangle morning I’ll come following you’. Know the bit?

It reminds me of  bangles jingling and jangling on my wrist (I realise this was probably not what Dylan intended to evoke when he wrote his musical epic).

Anyway, accordingly, I have welcomed this season’s trend for adorned wrists with open arms. There’s an instant feel good factor to looking down at your wrist and seeing a beauty of a bangle winking at you. I’m not talking about weedy, fussy little bracelets I’m talking about big, bold statements. Harper’s have captured the spirit of these Mawi Sun Ray Tube Bangles perfectly in this strong, grown-up Little Red Riding Hood look.

If the Harper’s look is a bit much for you, take inspiration from my favourite bangle wearer of all time- Nancy Cunard. Believe it or not, this photograph was taken in 1928 but she still looks modern today! And check out those wonderful bangles! Nancy, whose friend described her as having a ‘chiffon voice’, was more than a style icon though; she was a rebellious English aristocrat, a published poet, an artistic and literary muse, founder of a publishing press,  and a pioneering political activist who fought tirelessly against fascism and racism. Read more about her here in this NY Times article.
